Becoming a Patient FAQ

Starting something new can be a big step, so we’re here to make your journey with medical cannabis easy.

Getting Started with Goodblend

How do I qualify for medical cannabis?

It’s pretty straightforward! Here’s what you need:

  • Residency: You need to live in Texas and have a state ID.
  • Diagnosis: One of over 150 approved conditions must be on your medical chart. The most notable conditions are PTSD, ALS, autism, cancer, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, spasticity, or any incurable neurodegenerative disease. Please consult your doctor for an accurate diagnosis.
  • Doctor’s Approval: Your doctor believes cannabis can provide relief for your symptoms or condition.

Can I smoke my medicine?

Texas laws are strict on this. Currently, smoking is not legally allowed in the medical program, but don’t worry—there are plenty of other ways to use cannabis, and we’re here to show you how!

Prescriptions and Legal Stuff

How do I get my prescription?

Once your physician completes your consultation, they will enter your details into the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT). To retrieve a copy of your prescription you’ll need to request this from your physician. Then, you or a guardian specified by you can pick up your prescription at any licensed dispensary—just bring your ID.

Will this affect my 2nd amendment Rights?

No. You can become a Texas medical marijuana patient without giving up your second amendment rights. Texas has NOT passed any laws barring medical marijuana patients from owning guns. The conflict between medical marijuana laws and gun laws is that cannabis remains a schedule I substance, for now.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, being a TCUP patient does not disqualify someone from obtaining or maintaining a License to Carry.

In some cases, if a diagnosed medical condition potentially affects the individual’s ability to exercise sound judgement, the Medical Advisory Board may be asked for their review. However, this standard applies to any person diagnosed with certain medical conditions who wishes to maintain a License to Carry, regardless of their status as a medical marijuana patient.

Handling Orders and Caregivers

How do I appoint a caregiver?

If you need someone else to pick up your cannabis, just let your doctor know who you would like to allow access to retrieve your medicine. The physician will need to add this person's information to your prescription. If the patient is under 18, that person needs to be their legal guardian.

Missed your pickup?

If you miss your pickup time, the order will be canceled, but you can reorder for the next day—either online, in person or over the phone.

Travel and Returns

Can I travel with my meds?

About Our Products

What’s in your products?

We like to keep it natural—there are no added sugars in our tinctures, and we avoid artificial ingredients. If you have allergies, let’s talk to make sure you’re safe.

How should I store my cannabis?

Keep it cool and keep it dark in a sealed container. This keeps your medicine in top shape. We recommend keeping your medicine in its original container as it’s labeled with the correct prescription and patient information.  Storing in unmarked containers opens you up to liability for misuse.

We’re always here to help make your experience with us as comfortable and positive as possible. If you have more questions or need a bit more guidance, feel free to reach out!

Ever since my pain specialist put me on the Texas Cannabis Registry I've only ever bought my edibles from Goodblend. I tried the only other company once, but it's the people and customer service I receive that keeps me from ordering elsewhere. The whole process is easy, but above all, they all genuinely care if their products are helping you. I'm disabled and battle chronic pain, etc and these act as my anti-depressant! Love Goodblend! Thank you!
